Latest On The Conservation Gateway

A well-managed and operational Conservation Gateway is in our future! Marketing, Conservation, and Science have partnered on a plan to rebuild the Gateway into the organization’s enterprise content management system (AEM), with a planned launch of a minimal viable product in late 2024. Conservation Scientist

Gust started with The Nature Conservancy in August of 2012. Prior to joining the Conservancy, he spent almost 14 years with the Missouri Resource Assessment Partnership (MoRAP) at the University of Missouri, serving as a GIS specialist and aquatic resources coordinator. Much of Gust's previous experience focused on developing ecological classifications, aquatic species distribution modeling, conservation assessments, and the delivery of geospatial data to the natural resources community.

Gust possesses a master's degree in geography from Western Illinois University. His master's thesis examined Michigan and Wisconsin stream restoration project success rates and investigated factors affecting project monitoring and evaluation. He received a bachelor's degree in education and the post baccalaureate equivalent of a geography major from Northern Michigan University. Gust's interest in aquatic resources began while he was a volunteer for the Chocolay River Watershed Restoration Project in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
