Summary

The California Coastal Resilience Network initiative synthesizes lessons and best practices from sea level rise adaptation efforts across California’s coast. Led by The Nature Conservancy, this project draws on work from regions including San Diego, Los Angeles, Ventura, Monterey Bay, San Francisco Bay, and Humboldt Bay. It examines tools such as coastal flood models, economic analyses, and decision support systems to better understand adaptation challenges and opportunities. The report highlights common barriers including limited data accessibility, stakeholder coordination gaps, and challenges in translating plans into action. By identifying what has worked and where gaps remain, the network provides guidance to coastal planners, decision makers, and communities beginning adaptation efforts. The findings support improved land use planning, stronger resilience strategies, and collaborative approaches to addressing climate driven coastal risks.
