Summary
This report presents the findings from the Town of Waterford Hazards and Community Resilience Workshop, held in November 2014 as part of a partnership between the Town of Waterford and The Nature Conservancy. The initiative built on earlier risk and vulnerability assessments to better understand the impacts of extreme weather and climate-related hazards along Connecticut’s coast. Through stakeholder engagement, interviews, and workshops, participants identified key hazards, vulnerabilities, and community strengths. Using tools such as the Coastal Resilience framework and NOAA’s Roadmap for Adapting to Coastal Risk, the workshop supported risk visualization and decision-making. The report outlines prioritized actions to reduce risk, protect infrastructure and ecosystems, and enhance community resilience. It provides guidance for local planning and serves as a model for other coastal communities facing similar climate challenges.
