Summary

This report presents findings from the Town of Fairfield Hazards and Community Resilience Workshops, held in June 2013 through a partnership between the Town of Fairfield, the Greater Bridgeport Regional Council, and The Nature Conservancy. The initiative focused on increasing awareness of risks from extreme weather, coastal hazards, and climate-related impacts affecting Connecticut’s shoreline communities. Through stakeholder engagement, interviews, and community workshops, participants identified key hazards, vulnerabilities, and local strengths. The process incorporated NOAA’s Roadmap for Adapting to Coastal Risk and The Nature Conservancy’s Coastal Resilience tools to support risk visualization and decision-making. The report outlines priority adaptation actions to reduce exposure, protect infrastructure and ecosystems, and strengthen community resilience. It provides guidance for local planning and serves as a model for other communities addressing climate risks and hazard mitigation.
