Summary

This report presents the findings of the City of Stamford Hazards and Community Resilience Workshop, held in December 2014 as part of a partnership between the City of Stamford, Western Connecticut Council of Governments, and The Nature Conservancy. The workshop engaged stakeholders to assess risks from extreme weather and climate-related hazards, including storms, flooding, and sea level rise. Using tools such as the Coastal Resilience framework and NOAA’s Roadmap for Adapting to Coastal Risk, participants identified key vulnerabilities, strengths, and priority actions to improve resilience. The report highlights community-driven strategies to reduce risk, protect infrastructure and ecosystems, and enhance preparedness. It provides guidance for local decision-makers and serves as a model for other coastal communities seeking to strengthen climate adaptation and hazard mitigation planning.
