Resilient River Explorer Tool
The Resilient River Explorer helps users assess freshwater resilience across rivers and watersheds in the continental U.S. and Alaska. Developed by TNC's Center for Resilient Conservation Science, it supports conservation planning by identifying resilient systems, guiding land protection, and prioritizing restoration where it can provide the greatest benefit.

Freshwater resilience is the ability of a stream network or other aquatic setting to maintain biologic diversity even as the system changes in composition and structure in response to changes in climate. Over the last century, the ecological integrity of most streams and lakes has declined, and now climate change is altering historic precipitation patterns and further impacting freshwater environments. In response, TNC's Center for Resilient Conservation Science (CRCS) assessed river networks in the Conterminous United States (CONUS) and Alaska for freshwater resilience to direct conservation action to the most resilient systems.
Use the Resilient River Explorer to assess freshwater resilience of rivers and watersheds, protect lands most valuable for freshwater conservation, and restore areas with the greatest benefit for resilience. In addition to its original content, the new release includes Alaska, expanded biodiversity information, new freshwater conservation status assessments, and enables users to analyze custom areas of interest.
