Powered by Partners: Ecological Research on Nature Conservancy Preserves in Arizona

Abstract

The Nature Conservancy's preserves in Arizona provide critical opportunities for ecological research and conservation. This report highlights externally led studies conducted between 2010 and 2026 that have advanced understanding of biodiversity, climate change, hydrology, restoration, and species conservation across Arizona's diverse landscapes. From rare fireflies and endangered orchids to native fishes, bats, and soil microbes, these projects demonstrate how protected lands support scientific discovery while informing conservation management. Together, they illustrate the powerful partnership between research and stewardship and the important role TNC preserves play as long-term centers of learning, innovation, and conservation.
