About the Tool

The Nature Conservancy supports the rapid expansion of renewable energy, and the ample wind and solar resources in the central U.S. offer the opportunity to provide clean, low-impact power for people and wildlife.

The layers in the tool were created to identify areas where wind and solar development are unlikely to encounter wildlife-related conflict. The information on the tool is not intended to replace consultation with federal and state wildlife agencies and tribal governments.
