August  2009

As you model, you may wonder if it would ever be possible to model multiple ecosystems at once, even having areas transition from one ecosystem to another (e.g., ponderosa pine stands replaced by pinyon-juniper) as may happen with climate change.  The answer is now a definite “YES” in VDDT’s successor called “PATH.”  Soon VDDT will be totally replaced by PATH.  However, the concepts and exercises in this manual will be a great introduction to modeling and will prepare you for future adventures in PATH. We will be revising this manual in the near future.
