Biological Conservation Special Issue: Uncertainty and adaptive management for biodiversity conservation

ANNOUNCEMENT

Ever wonder why adaptive management is just so darn hard to make work on-the-ground and in-the-water?

David A. Keith, Tara G. Martin, Eve McDonald-Madden, and Carl Walters take a stab at answering this question in this special issue of Biological Conservation, which publishes the results of a 2009 workshop in Brisbane, Australia. From the empirical to the highly modeled, topics include:

  • Embracing uncertainty
  • Imaginative synthesis
  • Experimental design
  • Institutional barriers
  • Models for policy screening
  • Innovative monitoring approaches
  • Conflict resolution
  • Self-serving behavior
