This case study was presented as a PowerPoint with poster session at the Society of Conservation GIS conference in 2012. It illustrates a real‐life application of Fire Regime Condition Class and Conservation Action Planning in the Bodie Hills area of California. The work was undertaken by Louis Provencher, Greg Low and Susan Abele. They used Vegetation Condition Class as a primary component of a conservation action plan that was designed to improve ecological conditions, reduce fire risk and maintain livelihoods.
