Downscaling data is the process of deriving finer scale data or model outputs from data or processes of coarser scale. Because appropriate data are often lacking and too expensive to acquire, an analyst may only have data that were created by someone else for some other purpose at a different scale.
In this presentation, lessons learned from localizing national and regional scale data from the LANDFIRE program for project level, land management applications are discussed.
