LANDFIRE Featured at Three Conferences, Webinar

​Randy Swaty and Sarah Hagen's proposals for the Tallgrass Prairie and Oak Savannah Regional Fire Conference have been accepted. The Conference runs January 29-31, 2013 in Dubuque, IA.. LANDFIRE data and ecological departure: An analysis of ecosystem loss and structural change (oral presentation) and Modeling for the rest of us: Using LANDFIRE models and Landscape Conservation Forecasting to develop cost-effective management plans and partnerships (workshop).

Kori Blankenship, LANDFIRE Fire Ecologist (TNC) and Louis Provencher, Director of Conservation Ecology, (TNC-Nevada) will present the latest updates and uses for LANDFIRE data in the Great Basin at the Great Basin Fire Consortium’s webinar on January 24, 2013 at 2:30 ET. Title is “LANDFIRE: Data for Land Management.”  Register here.

Stacey Clark, Ecological Site Inventory Specialist, QA USDA NRCS (MN) will present information about LANDFIRE at the 2013 annual Society for Range Management conference, February 2 – 8. Title is “Partnering with LANDFIRE, NatureServe and Heritage Programs: Utilizing Legacy Data for Ecological Site Concept Development and Descriptions.”  Conference information.

Program Manager for the TNC LANDFIRE project,  Jim Smith, will present “Creating an Efficient and Effective Conservation Plan: Finding the Right Mix of Fire and Non-Fire Treatments Based Upon Costs and Benefits,” at the 4th Fire Behavior and Fuels Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina, February 18-22, 2013.
